Calling all (Asian) Cooks!

I desperately want step-by-step ingredient-by-ingredient DEAR HEAVENS HOLD MY HAND instructions on how to make totally stellar FRIED RICE! I've tried a few recipes I found via Chef McGoogle, but it's not "doing it for me". Anyone, tips? Suggestions? Make it for me once a week and deliver?

  1. I love to cook and i make chinese pretty often in this household. so with that being said, this is how i make my fried rice, brett loves it:

    1. Minute Rice (White) boil it and set it aside to cool
    2. chopped onion, i usually do half but i like onion
    3. chopped green onion
    4. 2 eggs
    5. 3 or 4 tbs of soy sauce

    Heat soy sauce in pan over med-high heat. cook onions until browned (about 3-5 minutes) push to one side of the pan and then add eggs and scramble together with onion. add the boiled/cooled rice and mix. add more soy sauce as needed.

    *sometimes if I think about it, I'll buy the fried rice pkg in the Asian section at the grocery and add it at the very end for some more seasoning.

    It may sound complicated, but it's super easy!! let me know how it goes if you use it.

  2. my problem is that my fried rice still tastes like white rice with soy sauce. I think I need to add the green onion.. I also heard that cooking the rice the night prior and stir frying it cold, straight from the frig helps with the texture. Thanks Heather.

    Now what about the other 25 people reading this? No suggestions?! Girl can't get a break!

    Can you believe I read one recipe that called for a HALF A CUP of soy sauce!!!??? Geez!!

    Any recommended soy sauce brands? I'm not thrilled with mine... great for sushi, not for fried rice.
